Energy Saving Stoves & Climate Action
Tanzania is experiencing a serious biomass energy crisis, driven by rising firewood demand from households, institutions, and industries. The unsustainable harvesting of wood contributes to deforestation, climate change, and household air pollution.
FADECO addresses this challenge through the design and construction of energy-saving stoves that drastically reduce firewood consumption, lower emissions, and promote healthier living environments.
We work with:
- Households
- Schools and health facilities
- Restaurants and small businesses
- Prisons and military barracks
Benefits of Energy-Efficient Stoves
- Our improved cookstoves are designed to reduce firewood use by 50–60% compared to traditional three-stone fireplaces. Key advantages include:
- Significant Firewood Savings (up to 60%)
- Lower costs for families and institutions
- Faster Cooking Times with better heat retention
- Smoke Elimination, leading to healthier kitchens
- Accident Prevention by replacing open fires

Types of Energy-Efficient Stoves
1. Institutional Stoves
Designed for high-volume cooking, these stoves maximize fuel efficiency and cut fuel costs by up to 60%. Most institutions recover their installation investment within a year due to savings. The design also improves air quality by containing smoke and can be tailored to the specific needs of the institution.
2. Domestic Stoves
Simple, affordable, and built using locally available materials, these stoves are ideal for rural households. They: Use up to 50% less firewood Reduce and contain smoke They are easy to construct and maintain Can be designed to heat multiple cooking surfaces by guiding hot smoke efficiently Optional: Add before/after photos of a traditional cooking setup vs. an improved stove.
