Tanzania Bila FISTULA Inawezekana

Working with the CCBRT, FADECO RADIO has been nominated as FISTULA ambassador for the NW Tanzania region. Mrs Eliet Jovin Kikaka identifies and advises all women who are found to be facing the FISTULA CHALLENGE. Regularly she runs radio programs to sensitize the communities about FISTULA and its negative impacts to the individual and society. She also runs regular radio adverts calling on anyone with or who may know someone with the problem to refer them to her.

Once identified, she meets up with them, counsels them and in consultation with physicians in the local hospitals, she trie to get the medical confirmation about the status quo. Once verified as Fistula, Mrs Elieth liaises with the Fistula Contact person at CCBRT in Dar es salaam.

Once registered, she makes a program to transfer the Fistula patient to CCBRT for treatment. This included organising all local transportation from the village/ location of the patient to Kayanga (RADIO FADECO OFFICE). Organising bus transport from Karagwe or nearest pickup point onto a bus destined to dar es salaam. After documentation (photograph and contact details), a bus ticket is booked and the patient is ready to travel.

Once in Transit, Miss. Elieth maintains regular contact with the bust driver as to the state and conditions of the patients until they are picked up by a CCBRT designated official who meets them on arrival and transfers them to the CCBRT hospital for treatment.

Thanks to the support from the VODACOM FOUNDATION who pays for the transportation of patients from Kagera (point of domicile) to CCBRT Hospital in dar es salaam.
