FADECO teams up with FikraHub to establish KAGERA BUSINESS INCUBATION CENTRE (BIC)
Background
The Kagera Business Incubation Center (BIC), is the first social enterprise of its kind to identify, pilot , and scale social innovations for society as a whole in Kagera Region. This is a joint effort between Fikrahub innovation Center and FADECO radio to make novel solutions to social problems in a more effective, efficient and sustainable approach. We are particulary interested in harbessing the potential of young people: graduates and non graduates; female as well as Males between the ages 18-45. We are interested in new ideas including areas of financial, agricultural, information technology, social, and economic challenges /issues researching them and developing sophisticated solutions for them. We are built on the Theory of social change that underpins much of its work on a pyramid with three levels: Space, Community, and Innovation. We are sure and certain: everyone is a change-maker.
1st Space-focusing on the creation of the physical space. We do this carefully, designing a space that is functional, inviting, and energizing.
2nd Community-Begins by welcoming and receiving individuals and groups of people who are looking for people looking for a place to work and lastly becomes a community through conscious, careful curating and programming.
3rd invention cycle (Imagination, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship)– something that happens when we mix the right people, the right values, and the right environments.
Key Roles of BIC
- Promoting social innovation as a source of growth and jobs to meet social needs in a better way than the existing solutions.
- Supporting innovative thinking and mobilization of ideas through developing and managing clear protocols and processes for pipeline idea generation and decision-making.
